Malamulo Ndiko Kwathu, a group of Malamulo Secondary School former students, has donated 70 desks worth K1.7 million to their former school.

The latest donation means the school has received 150 desks from the former students following a donation of 80 desks in October last year.

Speaking in an interview on Sunday at the institution, Malamulo Ndiko Kwathu chairperson Madalitso Njolomole said they bought the desks using contributions from the group members.

Njolomole (2L) and the group’s secretary Mary Munthali (R) make a symbolic presentation of the desks

“We hope the desks will motivate the students because they will learn in a conducive environment,” he said.

Njolomole asked the school management to restore the school’s lost glory by producing students with aggregated points of below 10 in Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examinations.

The group has since pledged to give K500 000 to any student who scores an aggregate of 10 points or better in the forthcoming MSCE examinations.

Malamulo Secondary School principal Keldon Chima thanked the alumni for the donation, but asked the former students to consider assisting the school with some of the challenges it is facing.

He said the school has a shortage of books because government does not
